me,a name i call myself
i’ve noticed i’ve blogged for a while here…and i have yet to do an introductory post! silly me! well here we go!

my name is Naimah (n-EYE-ee-Muh), no worries if you can’t pronounce it…my MomMom couldn’t say it for the first few months either(haha.) i am 27 yrs old,i’m sure i’ve lived many loves before, i’ve been told i have and “old soul”. i’m an only child with 33 cousins, thats counting both sides of the family although i’m sure i’ve missed a few here and there (whoopsie!) i’m from a tiny town in southern new Jersey right outside of Philadelphia and share an apt with my Mom. i have a daytime job (i am a deskzombie!) that can get a bit stressful, but, in the end i think of all the folks i’ve helped in the process and it seems worth it.

i began painting tees for friends in 2003 for graduations, birthdays, and sometimes just because. i continued to do so and in 2008 i took my first printmaking class at Tyler , it was the greatest gift i’ve ever been given and i am forever grateful to Jillyfor it. i was going through a rough time right aound then, my mom had been in the hospital for over a month, the days i got to spend creating took a giant load stress off my shoulders.

i continued to take classes and paint for friends, and soon friends of friends. custom jobs soon followed. in 2009 i was asked to do some consignment work for local boutique Rue Couture and did really well! so i decided to then apply as a vendor for the Philadelphia Independant Craft Market. i didn’t sell anything but it turned out to be a really great say on networking and eventually dancing to a folk/jazz band covering Micheal Jackson’s greatest hits.

fast forward to 2011 i’ve since taken Indie Biz classes front by both Elsieand La and i’m taking steps to build my brand! the journey is what you’ll see here, along with a few featured post(click) i’m cooking up in addition to the ol Holy Cute!!!!!!(now called fancy that) posts. i applied for a cargoh store on March 31st and on April 2nd i got an acceptance email that literally had me dancing at my desk. i’m so so pleased to be a part of the cargoh family and fell that this is the best fit for my work. i just didn’t feel as awestruck by other , more popular sites and cargoh feels llike a great big family of artisans and like minded folks! and it’s kinnda cool when you’re the featured seller of the day!

my work has since been featured on the great site blaqbook.com as well! things just “keep looking up” as my MomMom would say. and if you’ve wondered where the company name came from it’s after Dora Mae Holmes my MomMom who was my greatest support. the name seemed filling for something i love so much. thanks for sticking with me through this journey everyone!!!!
