r.i.p. art in philly

It seems to me that art in Philadelphia has taken a hit. A few months ago I read a story in PW(Philadelphia Weekly) about an artists space being shutdown because of noise. Not only that but the story then went on to say that this particular space had taken steps it needed, gotten paperwork from the city, and worked with neighbors on solutions.

In the end they were shut down. It also helps that just blocks away lived one of the city uppity ups who had been pushing to have the space,and it’s owners labeled as a nuisance of the community. Couple that with the recent closing we the 941 theatre and a few collectives, and Philadelphia is beginning to lose some of its charm. Its love of diy, and community.

The closing of this store had nothing to do with the city itself as far as I can tell, I just dear that the city is losing something great.
